The You Choose Wider Key Skills programme is a flexible online learning strategy. Learners are assessed on transferable skills such as problem solving, self improvement and teamwork. Writing frames ensure that learners fulfil all of the criteria for each qualification.

The Wider Key Skills qualifications are an appropriate progression route from the You Choose Bronze Award.
Accreditation
The You Choose Wider Key Skills programme is accredited by ASDAN. The qualifications are available at Level 1 and Level 2.
There are three Wider Key Skills qualifications available at each level:
- Problem Solving
- Working with Others
- Improving Own Learning and Performance
Each You Choose Wider Key Skill can be completed in a minimum of 20 hours. Each is worth 18.8 points at Level 1 and 34.5 points at Level 2.
Schools find the Wider Key Skills qualifications useful in many contexts:
- With gifted and talented children in Years 8 and 9
- In place of SATs at the end of Year 9
- Throughout Years 10 and 11 in addition to GCSEs
- Intensively with identified Year 11s who are not being entered for all their GCSEs
